Hey friends, I’m Sanjay - an independent musician, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. Manchester born and bred and Newcastle University educated, I live and work in London making music alongside my day job.

After discovering my affinity to music at the age of 11, I started learning how to play the electric guitar. Soon after, I began writing, recording and releasing my own songs. Taken aback by the DIY indie rock sound of the 90’s and mid 2000s as a teen, the music I make sounds to me like some sort of indie / alternative / late 70’s / early 80’s rock pop concoction. Sounds a bit strange, but I think it works.

All of my releases have been written, performed, recorded and produced by myself. A poor man’s Kevin Parker if you will! Ever since my first studio experience at 16 I realised that, if I were to ever release music regularly, I’d have to learn to do this myself. Booking time in a recording studio as a student was simply unaffordable and unsustainable. With that decided, I invested in a Macbook Pro, an audio interface, a mic, and a DAW (software), and turned to free content on the internet to learn and refine my craft. Late nights in the university library often consisted of about an hour of revision, and about 5 more hours watching free online tutorials on how to mix a bass guitar.

Nowadays, listening back to my past releases feel like looking into time capsule of my abilities as both a songwriter and a producer at that moment in time. I’m definitely a believer in life-long learning and although I’m getting better at my craft every day, I’m so happy with the progress I’ve made to date. I still can’t believe it’s possible to make this stuff in your bedroom. What a time to be alive!

After producing and releasing songs for nearly 10 years, I want to let you into my creative process by sharing my experiences and learnings with you. Hopefully, this helps you to make music with more conviction and efficiency than I started off doing! I’ll also keep you updated on my progress as I delve into the world of content creation and small business.
